Associate Professor in International Business with a Focus on Entrepreneurship and Internationalization at the Firm Level, 2018-224-01696

At The Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Business and Management a position as associate professor in international business with a focus on entrepreneurship and internationalization at the firm level is open for appointment from 1 May 2018 or soon thereafter.

Job description

The position is an integral part of the International Business Centre within the Department and is expected to contribute to enhancing the field of internationalization of new ventures (entrepreneurship) and international competitiveness.

The applicant is expected to have research and teaching qualifications corresponding to the level achieved from a successful employment period as Assistant Professor. The applicant is required to document a research record showing his/her scientific production at international level within the fields of internationalization of companies and entrepreneurship in an international perspective. Applicants with research experience and an academic record (research and teaching) in the following fields are preferred:

  • Solid foundation within the field of international business
  • The internationalization of SME’s, with focus on northern Europe and economies in transition
  • Entrepreneurial activities, how they unfold and develop
  • Management of entrepreneurial ventures and small businesses

Applicants with teaching experience in English at bachelor and master level and experience in problem based learning pedagogics will be preferred, as will applicants with experience in international research collaboration (co-writing; international projects, etc.).

Teaching activities include lecturing, supervision, coordination and planning of Problem Based Learning (PBL) programs at bachelor and master.

The position as Associate Professor involves external fund raising, management of international research projects and organization of international conferences, and therefore experience in these regards is advantageous.

Non-Danish speaking applicants must have an interest in learning Danish.
 
Qualification requirements

It is presupposed that applicants for the position as associate professor have research qualifications corresponding to the level achieved from a successful employment period as an assistant professor/researcher, or achieved otherwise. The applicants must document scientific production at an international level. Furthermore, it is presupposed that the applicants have received supervision and pedagogical upgrading and a positive written evaluation of their teaching qualifications. Moreover it will be an advantage, but not a prerequisite, that applicants have experience with Problem Based Learning (PBL) which is Aalborg University's teaching philosophy.

It is expected that the applicant has a broad foundation within business administration, and is well founded in different research methodologies.

Since teaching is conducted in English, applicants are requested to provide documentation of their abilities to teach and supervise students in English.

Assessment

An expert assessment committee will assess all candidates.

Shortlisting will be applied. This means that subsequent to the deadline for applications the head of department supported by the chair of the assessment committee will select candidates for assessment. The selected applicants will be informed of the composition of the assessment committee, and each applicant will have the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that applies to the applicant in question. When the employment process has been terminated, a final rejection will be sent to the applicants who are not considered for the position.

Agreement

Appointment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities (the Appointment Order) and the Ministry of Higher Education and Science's Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities. Salary is in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) on Academics in the State.
