The Postdoc position is part of the project"Association Participation among Immigrant Children: A Vehicle for Integration?" funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark. The project investigates how participation in associations such as football clubs, scout troops, role-playing groups, and choirs varies among children of immigrants from different social and ethnic backgrounds in Sweden, the Netherlands, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Denmark. Additionally, it examines how their participation affects their educational performance, social networks, and values.
The Postdoc will be responsible for conducting Work Package 2. This work package examines how participation in associations affects various aspects of immigrant children's integration in Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, England, and Denmark. Key indicators of integration to be studied include educational performance, social networks, and values. The work package will employ advanced quantitative methods, such as panel data and instrumental variable estimators, to analyze data from the Children of Immigrants Longitudinal Study in Four European Countries(CILS-EU) and the Danish Citizenship Survey, combined with administrative register data.
Associate Professor Hans-Peter Y. Qvist, the project's principal investigator, will provide scientific guidance to the Postdoc.
Post doctoral position
The Postdoc position will primarily focus on research and include some teaching responsibilities. Additional duties may be required to a limited extent. The university will determine the exact balance of these responsibilities, which may change over time.
Appointment as a Postdoc cannot exceed a period of four years in total at Aalborg University. Appointment at Postdoc level cannot exceed a period of eight years in total in Denmark, however max. six years at Assistant Professor level- which includes Postdoc- at the same institution.
Qualification requirements
To be appointed as a Postdoc, candidates must have PhD or equivalent scientific qualifications. The overall assessment will prioritize the applicant's research potential.
Candidates for the position must have documented quantitative research skills. Experience researching civic participation among immigrants and their children is a significant advantage and will be highly valued. Additionally, experience working with panel and administrative register data is highly valued. Proficiency in both Danish and English is required.

Assesments
Applicants will be assessed by an assessment committee.
Shortlisting will be applied. This means that subsequent to the deadline for applications the head of department supported by the chair of the assessment committee will select applicants for assessment. Before the shortlisting takes place, all applicants will get the opportunity to comment on the composition of the assessment committee. All applicants will be informed whether they are selected for assessment or not.
All assessed applicants will get the opportunity to comment on their own assessment, and may be invited to an interview and/or asked to give a trial lecture.
When the employment process has been terminated, a final rejection will be sent to the applicants who are not considered for the position.
