One or more PhD stipend(s) in Computer vision analysis of people in thermal imagery (7-18068)

At the Technical Faculty of IT and Design, Department of Architecture, Design and Media Technology, a PhD stipend is available within the general research programme Electrical and Electronic Engineering. The stipend is open for appointment from 1 October 2018 or as soon as possible hereafter.

Job description

The first project is about thermal adaptive architecture where the goal is an adaptive system that better regulates room temperature based on thermal perception. The PhD student will be responsible for assessing the perceived thermal comfort using thermal (and perhaps also RGB) sensing. In the other project thermal cameras are used to monitor harbor areas and detect dangerous situations, e.g., people falling into the water. In both projects the PhD student will work on detecting people and their whereabouts, with the goal of inferring semantic information.

The applicant should have a strong background in computer vision. Moreover, knowledge about thermal imaging will be judged positively.
