Associate Professor in Economics, Strategy and Entrepreneurship

At The Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Business and Management a position as associate professor in Economics, Strategy and Entrepreneurship is open for appointment from February 1 2020  or soon thereafter.

Job description

The position is located in the Center for Impact Analyses of Investments in Knowledge and Technology (IMPAKT). The center conducts research on and analyses of the effects and broader socio-economic impacts of investments in knowledge, technology and innovation. IMPAKT researchers work in close interaction with the Innovation, Knowledge and Economic dynamics (IKE) research group. IKE researchers work in the interplay between evolutionary economics, industrial dynamics, innovation and entrepreneurship. They focus on different levels of aggregation such as the firm level, the industry level, the macro level, and different geographic levels of aggregation.

The applicants for the position are expected to take an active part in existing and new collective IMPAKT and IKE research projects and be active in attracting external funding. The IMPAKT group is a central part of the DRUID network of international scholars in industrial dynamics, entrepreneurship and organization. The applicants are expected to take an active part in relevant research environments, including the DRUID society and the DCER (Danish Center for Entrepreneurial Research).

Applicants with documented research experience with quantitative micro-level analysis of entrepreneurship and firm performance are given priority. More specifically, this could be a research agenda that investigates the relationship between individual firm characteristics (such as founding conditions, human, social and organizational capital) on the one hand and organizational outcomes/performance on the other. The applicants should have a strong profile within the following fields: entrepreneurship, organizational behavior, employee mobility, occupational choice and econometrics.

Teaching activities include lecturing, supervision, coordination and planning at bachelor, master and PhD level at the various programs in business administration and economics at the upcoming Aalborg Business School.

Qualification requirements

It is presupposed that applicants for the position as associate professor have research qualifications corresponding to the level achieved from a successful employment period as an assistant professor/researcher, or achieved otherwise. The applicants must document scientific production at an international level. Furthermore, it is presupposed that the applicants have received supervision and pedagogical upgrading and a positive written evaluation of their teaching qualifications. Moreover it will be an advantage, but not a prerequisite, that applicants have experience with Problem Based Learning (PBL) which is Aalborg University's teaching philosophy.

Proficiency in English is a requirement. Proficiency in Danish is an advantage but not a prerequisite. However, as most courses at the Department for Business and Management are offered in Danish, we expect that you become capable of teaching in Danish after a few years.

Assessment

An expert assessment committee will assess all candidates.

Shortlisting will be applied. This means that subsequent to the deadline for applications the head of department supported by the chair of the assessment committee will select candidates for assessment. All applicants will be informed whether they will be assessed or not. The selected applicants will be informed of the composition of the assessment committee, and each applicant will have the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that applies to the applicant in question. When the employment process has been terminated, a final rejection will be sent to the applicants who are not considered for the position.

Agreement

Appointment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities (the Appointment Order) and the Ministry of Higher Education and Science's Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities. Salary is in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) on Academics in the State.
