The Department of Communication and Psychology at the Faculty of Humanities at Aalborg University Copenhagen (AAU-CPH) is offering a <strong>three-year post-doctoral position in personalized job recommender systems</strong>. The position is to commence <strong>December 1, 2020</strong> or as soon as possible thereafter (contingent on the negotiation of the final details of the external agreement with the funding agency, but to be fixed by the application deadline).

Job description

The AAU appointment will be a full-time research position as a post-doctoral researcher for a fixed term of 3 years. Supervision and teaching are encouraged, but not required. Travel funding and computing resources are covered.

Description of the scientific environment
The post-doc will become part of the Science, Policy and Information Studies (SPIS, https://www.communication.aau.dk/research/knowledge_groups/spis) knowledge group, which studies, among other topics, intelligent information access (recommender systems, information retrieval), data visualization, information behavior, academic and societal network analysis, and information ethics. SPIS is part of the Department of Communication & Psychology (https://www.communication.aau.dk/) at the Faculty of Humanities at Aalborg University. The post-doc will be based at the Copenhagen branch of Aalborg University.

The post-doc will also be embedded in the JobMatch project along with the Machine Learning section of the Department of Computer Science at Copenhagen University and JobIndex. Close collaboration with and between these project partners and the candidate researchers will be expected as part of the project.

Formal requirements

Applicants should have (or be about to receive) a PhD degree in a subject relevant for the research area, such as recommender systems, machine learning, or natural language processing. The candidate is expected to have a professional research record as witnessed by publications in top conferences in at least one of these fields.

During the employment as post-doc, the ideal candidate will be expected to:

  • Undertake research and publish research output of an internationally recognized quality
  • Engage in external research networks and collaborations
  • Engage in knowledge collaboration within the portfolio of the position
  • Participate positively and constructively in the day-to-day activities of the Department of Communication and Psychology.
  • Demonstrate great written and oral communication skills in English. Knowledge of Danish (or similar languages) is an advantage, but not required for the position.

Terms of employment

The post-doc will be a full-time employee at the Department of Communication & Psychology at Aalborg University, and will be based at the Copenhagen branch of Aalborg University. The research project is carried out in collaboration with the other JobMatch project partners. Research publications and presentations will be under the auspices of the Department of Communication & Psychology, Aalborg University.

Post Doctoral position
Appointment as Postdoc presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment. Appointment as a Postdoc cannot exceed a period of four years in total at Aalborg University. Appointment at Postdoc level cannot exceed a period of eight years in total in Denmark, however max. six years at Assistant Professor level - which includes Postdoc - at the same institution.

Applicants will be assessed by an expert assessment committee. Applicants may be invited to an interview and/or asked to give a trial lecture.

This means that subsequent to the deadline for applications the head of department supported by the chair of the assessment committee will select candidates for assessment. All applicants will be informed whether they will be assessed or not. The selected applicants will be informed of the composition of the assessment committee, and each applicant will have the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that applies to the applicant in question. When the employment process has been terminated, a final rejection will be sent to the applicants who are not considered for the position.
