At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of Materials & Production a position as Professor in Operations Strategy and Supply Chain Management is open for appointment from January 1st, 2022 or soon hereafter. The Department of Materials and Production is a department at Aalborg University with a strategic focus on Production, Mechanics & Materials Science and their combination in cross-disciplinary collaboration. The aim is, with an outset in rigourous research, to develop innovative solutions to key industrial and socital challenges of our time, and at the moment with a particular focus to sustainability and digitalization. Operations enabled by digitalization plays a major role in the transformation towards industrial sustainability. The research is aimed at contributing to operations management & supply chain management in particular, and is aimed at industry. Research is conducted locally, nationally and internationally in close collaboration with organisations and external research partners. The successful candidate is expected to contribute actively to ongoing research and the development of new research projects.

Job description

In terms of research domain the position falls within the field of Operations Strategy and Supply Chain Management from an industrial engineering perspective.

The positions is scoped in the domain of the two convening agendas of industrial sustainability and digitalisation and the candidate is expected to document a continued research engagement and impact within these agendas. Your role will not only be a source of inspiration and a facilitator of change, but a leader and driver of innovation and sustainable competence development in the area. This means that the position builds on continuous contact and collaboration with the business community and authorities in order to adress societal changes and renewal through knowledge development and innovation, but also contribute to organisational development within the department.

We are offering an international and dynamic work environment with ambitious industrial and academic partners. The candidate is expected to be highly motivated and outgoing, and is expected to work in a interdisciplinary team and has a documented record of doing research, raising funding and team building in such a context.

The position is focused on research and innovation, teaching and administration workload. In other words, the candidate is expected to document capabilities related to the following tasks and responsibilities:

  • Conducting and disseminating scientific research that meets high international standards, publishing in scholarly outlets, and communicating the results of your research to industry and to the society at large.
  • Participation in national and international organizations driving emerging research and public discourse agendas and disseminating science based knowledge to inform the former.
  • Driving the process of obtaining external research funding for research and innovation projects.
  • Building a high performing research group, consisting of colleagues at all levels.
  • Actively making contact, collaborating, and building networks with industry, higher education institutions, and actors in the wider society.
  • Contributing to the competence development of students by providing research-based teaching, supervision, and curriculum development within the themes of Operations & Supply Chain Management at the BSc, MSc and MBA levels.

Qualification requirements:
The successful applicant can demonstrate a documented high level of original scientific production at an international level, including proven further development of the research area in question. An assessment of the candidate’s undertaking of research management and/or other possible management functions will also be taken into account. In addition the applicant is expected to have the qualifications required for undertaking teaching responsibilities. Special contributions to and development of educational and teaching related areas will be considered in the overall assessment.

Agreement

Appointment and salary acc. to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of professional Associations (AC) on Academics in the State. Employment as Professor is in accordance with a classified position on scale 37. In addition, a pensionable increment will be given.
