Research Assistant in Power System Protection (2021-224-03789)

At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, AAU Energy, a position as Research Assistant in Power System Protection is open for appointment from for 1 year from 1st December 2021 or soon hereafter. AAU Energy has approx. 300 employees of many nationalities, of which 25 are administrative staff. In addition, AAU Energy constantly has approx. 50-70 guest researchers from around the world. Research and teaching are in the absolute world elite in the field of energy, and we have extensive and leading workshop and laboratory facilities, where research and innovation are carried out in direct collaboration with industry to a great extent.

Job description

The position is offered in relation to the research group "Wind Power System Research Group" and the research assistant will be positioned to the section for Electric Power Systems and Micro-grids (section A).

Research areas will be within modeling, design and optimization of smart grid security issues including multi-energy integration, generation plant operation/protection, network interaction analysis, emergency control, and Energy Optimization.


Teaching will primarily be in Electric Power System, but also in other study programmes at the University.

The required level of qualifications is at master level. Besides, applicants should fill the following requirements:

1. Basic knowledge of power system steady-state/transient analysis, protection, as well as control theory;

2. Skill for commercial analysis tools, e.g. DIgSILENT/PowerFactory, PSCAD, etc., and familiar with the HIL platform setting up and application;

3. Strong ability to scientific research and innovation;

4. 1~2 year(s) working experience in power electric industry is preferred.

Appointment to Research Assistant may be for a period of up to three years. Reappointment may be made, but a Research Assistant can only be appointed to Research Assistant for a period of maximum three years. Agreement

Employment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities (the Appointment Order) and the Ministry of Finance's current Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities. Employment and salary are in accordance with the collective agreement for state-employed academics.
