Postdoc in Machine Learning based Early Degradation Prediction of Power Electronics in P2X Applications
At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, AAU Energy, a position as Postdoc in Power Electronics is open for appointments from 1st September 2025 or soon after. The position is for 2 years, and it is funded by Danish Pioneer Center for Accelerating P2X Materials Discovery (CAPeX).
Your work tasks
This postdoc position focuses on the early wear out prediction of power electronics in Power-to-X (P2X) application. The outcomes will support reliability testing time reduction in design phase and predictive maintenance in the operation phase. The integration of machine learning assisted approach is expected. It is part of the research activities on reliability and predictive maintenance of Power-to-X (P2X) materials, components, and systems in the CAPeX project. Therefore, the successful candidate will work closely with other researchers on relevant topics of the project.
The selected Postdoc candidate will be part of the CAPeX Academy and Fellowship programs, which provide physical and virtual education courses, modules, seminars and summer schools in P2X and digital technologies at the MSc, PhD, and postdoctoral level and facilitate staff exchanges and training courses.
Postdocs at CAPeX have extraordinary access to computing resources, trans-disciplinary international researchers across many disciplines within catalysis, materials and computer sciences, robotics, power electronics, and other academic areas, as well as courses and events at the center, and meaningful collaboration with industry, the public sector, and the start-up ecosystem. CAPeX Fellowship programs are associated with the SUNCAT center at Stanford University, The European solar fuels consortium SUNERGY at Utrecht University, or the Acceleration Consortium (AC) at University of Toronto.
Your Competencies
The successful application prerequisite that you demonstrate a documented expertise in most of the areas below:
- Proven-research experiences in one or more of the following research areas:
- Reliability modeling and testing of power electronic components and converters
- Condition and health monitoring for power electronic components and converters
- The application of artificial intelligence in power electronics
- Applicants with exceptional track-records in other power electronics research areas and have a proactive attitude to take on new research challenges are also encouraged to apply.
- Applicants with a research background from P2X, computer science, data analytics, or reliability engineering with a satisfactory level understanding of power electronic components, circuits, and control, are also encouraged to apply.
- Proven-records in peer-reviewed publications in the most recognized journals in their respective main research fields.
- Hands-on experience in experiment development and testing (e.g., hardware development, software implementation in various processor platforms) is required.
- Excellent English language skills (both oral and written).
Qualification requirements
Appointment as postdoc requires academic qualifications at PhD level.
