The National Center of Excellence for Molecular Prediction of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (PREDICT), based at Department of Clinical Medicine, Aalborg University (AAU) in Copenhagen, is looking to recruit a talented researcher for a 3-year, full-time (37 hours per week) postdoc in bioinformatics and IBD from 1 March 2027 or soon thereafter.

Your work tasks     
We are looking to recruit an excellent postdoctoral fellow in bioinformatics with the ambition and skillset to develop their own research projects addressing key research questions within the field of IBD. The research projects can be based on new innovative ways to utilize the many data sources already available in PREDICT, including registry data, genomics, microbiomics, metabolomics and epigenetics.  The postdoc fellow will join a multidisciplinary research environment and work with clinicians and biostatisticians as well as experts in the molecular specialties and is expected to have or obtain expertise in IBD, statistical analysis of several omics data as well as registry data, and contribute with this expertise in collaborations with other disciplines within the center.

The postdoctoral fellow will assume primary responsibility for new research projects - from study planning to conducting the study, writing scientific articles, obtaining funding and presenting research at national and international meetings, and training students - while carrying out the transition to becoming an independent researcher.

The postdoctoral fellow will refer to Center Director, Professor Tine Jess, and will work closely with the Center's interdisciplinary group of scientists to conduct cutting-edge international research. The workplace will be Aalborg University Copenhagen (Copenhagen South Harbour), where the main facilities of the National Center of Excellence are located.

Your competencies    
We are looking for a candidate with a background in bioinformatics or similar, combined with excellent skills in advanced data analysis, a great insight into molecular medicine, and a special interest in IBD.

The ideal candidate has:

• A PhD in bioinformatics within the field of IBD
• Has demonstrated expertise in working with registry data as well as genomic, microbiomics and other omics data
• High-quality publications
• Experience with project management
• Excellent writing and communication skills in English
• Excellent skills in initiating projects and working independently
• An international network within the field
• Excellent collaborative skills

Salary and terms of employment
