Your work tasks
The position is offered in relation to the research group "Sustainable Power Electronics and Electrification" and the Assistant Professor will be positioned to the section for “Power Electronics System Integration and Materials”.

Research will focus on the electrochemical and performance-degradation characterization of lithium-ion and post-lithium-ion batteries, as well as solid oxide electrolysis cells (SOECs). The role also includes developing performance models and state-of-health estimation algorithms for these technologies. We expect the candidate to be actively involved in preparing both individual and consortium grant applications.

Teaching will primarily be in battery and SOEC energy storage technologies, but also in other study groups at the University.

Your competencies
The ideal applicant has a PhD in Electrical Engineering or Material Science with application to electrochemical energy storage technologies. The applicant should document expertise in all the following topics:

  • Performance and lifetime characterization of lithium-ion batteries
  • Performance and lifetime characterization of solid oxide electrolysis cells
  • Post-mortem analysis of commercial and laboratory cells
  • Identification of aging mechanisms in lithium-ion batteries
  • Synthesis of new materials for batteries or hydrogen-based technologies

Furthermore, the candidate should demonstrate hands-on experience with different material characterization techniques such as: SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy), Raman Spectroscopy, XRD (X-ray diffraction), XPS (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy). The candidate should have an interest in advancing fundamental understanding while contributing to applied research outcomes.

Qualification requirements
